A Private Poolside Retreat
After we completed their home, our clients Ian and Odette invited us back to realize a new vision. They were looking to transform their front yard, then a conventional outdoor space, into a secluded, spa-like retreat. The goal was to evoke the feeling of a boutique resort, a place designed for daily relaxation and enjoyment, while remaining completely hidden from the street to ensure privacy.

A Fully Realized Vision
At the heart of the transformation is a 14′ × 32′ heated saltwater pool with an integrated hot tub and automatic cover. Cast in place from concrete, the pool’s construction allowed for complete flexibility in form and finishing, ensuring every detail aligned with Ian and Odette’s vision. The resulting geometry is clean and refined, inviting quiet morning swims, long afternoons in the sun, and evenings spent soaking under open skies.
A Cohesive, Intentional Space
The surrounding garden beds, retaining walls, and custom fireplace were designed as extensions of the pool itself. All share the same board-formed, sanded concrete finish, creating a consistent material language that ties the entire space together.
Collaboration in Craft
From the outset, this project was a true collaboration. Our client Ian established the primary design, and our team worked closely with him and Odette to refine details, navigate challenges, and bring the concept to life. The elevated final result—recognized with a 2024 Care Award for Best Outdoor Space Over $450,000—was the culmination of a personal vision supported by our construction expertise.
A Resort Feel, Right at Home
Ultimately, what makes this project so memorable is the atmosphere it creates. From nearly every vantage point, there’s a place to pause, whether it’s beside the water, near the warmth of the fireplace, or tucked into the surrounding garden. Layered textures, greenery, and carefully proportioned hardscape elements give the space an effortless resort-like quality. Best of all, despite being located at the front of the property, the retreat is fully concealed from the street, offering a sense of privacy that allows the homeowners to truly relax and enjoy their surroundings without interruption.
