Scandinavian Design with a West Coast Sensibility

Set against sweeping waterfront views, Blackwood is a Scandinavian-inspired rancher designed around light, warmth, and effortless living. Defined by crisp black siding, pale natural wood, and a dramatic sloped roofline, the home balances bold architectural gestures with a calm, welcoming atmosphere. Every element was carefully considered to create a residence that feels refined yet approachable, a home equally suited to quiet mornings and lively gatherings.

A Bold First Impression

The approach to the home unfolds gradually along a long driveway, revealing a composition of connected forms. A detached garage structure with a peaked roof sits to one side, while the main residence extends confidently ahead, unified through material consistency and clean architectural lines. One of the home’s defining features is the monumental pointed archway framing the front entry, crafted in pale wood that contrasts beautifully against the dark exterior cladding and black metal roof. It’s dramatic yet inviting.

Letting the Light In

The home’s main living spaces are designed to feel both expansive and inviting, with soaring ceilings, generous glazing, and a seamless connection to the outdoors. Warm wood accents soften the clean, contemporary palette, while thoughtful features like the oversized kitchen island and dramatic fireplace column create natural gathering points that bring intimacy and comfort to the home’s bold architectural scale.

A Private Retreat

The primary suite continues the home’s balance of openness and warmth through carefully considered architectural detailing and a restrained material palette. A sculptural half-wall positioned behind the bed creates subtle separation from the ensuite while maintaining the flow and visual continuity that define the residence. Warm wood accents carry through into the spacious bathroom, where dual sinks, a walk-in shower, and a freestanding bath create a calm, restorative atmosphere. Large openings to the exterior allow the suite to extend naturally toward the patio and surrounding landscape, reinforcing the home’s close connection to its setting.

A Home in Balance

Designed as a natural extension of the home, the outdoor living spaces support both lively gatherings and quiet moments of retreat. A large concrete patio creates room for dining, cooking, fireside seating, and soaking in the sunken hot tub overlooking the water, while landscaped gardens soften the transition into the yard below. Scandinavian in inspiration yet deeply rooted in its West Coast setting, Blackwood reflects a careful balance of bold architectural expression and everyday comfort. It’s a home designed to feel timeless, welcoming, and effortlessly livable.
