Passionate About Our Craft

Planning a custom home or a major renovation in Victoria, on the Saanich Peninsula, or elsewhere on Vancouver Island? We’d love to hear about your vision. The earlier we’re involved, the more opportunities we have to help shape a home that’s thoughtfully designed, expertly built, and uniquely yours.

Phil Wilson

Founder & Principal

Growing up around construction, Phil developed an early appreciation for craftsmanship, problem-solving, and building things meant to last. This inspired him to later found Philco Construction, focusing on delivering thoughtfully designed, high-quality homes built with integrity and attention to detail. As a ticketed carpenter, Phil brings a hands-on perspective to every project, working closely with homeowners, architects, and designers to create homes that are both beautiful and functional. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife Lisa and their two daughters, whether skiing in the mountains, boating along the coast, or exploring nature together.

Glenn Hamilton

Partner & Principal

Growing up on Salt Spring Island in a commercial fishing family, Glenn developed a strong work ethic and deep respect for the West Coast environment. After completing the Carpentry program at Camosun College and earning his Red Seal certification, he founded his own construction company, building a reputation for quality craftsmanship and durable, well-executed work. In 2016, he partnered with Phil, bringing a hands-on approach and a focus on precision to every project. Glenn is known for delivering thoughtfully built homes designed to last—particularly in coastal conditions. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time on the water with his wife and three children, continuing a lifelong connection to the coast.

Eric Gibson

Lead Estimator

Eric’s path into construction began through engineering and evolved into a passion for the building industry and elevating the client experience. After graduating from Camosun College’s Mechanical Engineering Technologist program, he spent time in aerospace before moving into the construction sector, where he first began working closely with Phil on framing projects. When Philco expanded into full-service general contracting, Eric joined the team to lead estimating and office operations. Today, he works closely with clients, architects, and trade partners to provide accurate, transparent budgeting and help guide projects from concept to construction. Eric appreciates the balance of problem-solving, craftsmanship, and collaboration that comes with building custom homes.

    Carly Helm

    Financial Controller

Carly grew up in a small town on the Sunshine Coast before making her way to Victoria, where she built a career doing what she does best: making sense of numbers. She spent her early years in the construction industry before transitioning to an accounting firm for a decade, gaining the kind of well-rounded financial experience that’s hard to teach. These days, she’s back in the world she started in and loving it. As Financial Controller at Philco, Carly oversees everything from finance and payroll to HR and project cost analysis and genuinely enjoys the people and clients she gets to work alongside every day.

When she’s not keeping Philco’s books in order, you’ll find Carly knitting—she sells her creations at local markets—or out adventuring with her husband and their dog Ruby. She has a love of travel, trying new foods, and exploring new places, and she’s happiest surrounded by good people and new experiences.

    Clint Anderson

    Estimator

For Clint, construction has always been about how thoughtfully built spaces shape the way we live and connect with our communities. That perspective took root in his early work building sets for theatre, where he learned to translate design into something tangible. It eventually drew him toward a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma with a focus in Construction Management, and into a career spanning project management, coordination, and estimating on custom homes and renovations throughout Victoria and the Gulf Islands. At Philco, Clint focuses on estimating and refining the systems that keep projects running smoothly—translating ideas into clear, reliable numbers that set every build up for success. Outside of work, Clint and his partner Chelsea can usually be found walking the dogs around town, catching a live show, or tracking down the island’s best food, drink, and quiet corners of nature.

    Jon Toronchuk

    Project Coordinator

Born and raised in Edmonton, Jon moved to Vancouver at twenty to study architecture, graduating from BCIT in 2014 with both a diploma and a Bachelor of Architecture. He spent the next decade in the industry, designing and coordinating institutional, commercial, mixed-use, and residential projects at Vancouver architecture firms. Next came five years with the City of Vancouver in the Housing and Development departments, where he developed a sharp eye for permitting, zoning, and the regulatory detail that shapes how projects get built.

In 2023, Jon relocated to Vancouver Island and joined the Philco team, where his role has grown to span pre-construction coordination, estimating, permit management, and client relations. He brings a rare combination of design literacy, municipal experience, and hands-on project coordination to every project. Outside of work, he can be found adventuring with his wife, two boys, and their dog George Clooney.
